This week was a busy one with lots of collaborative learning taking place!
We have been learning how to select tools and techniques for chopping, slicing, peeling and grating in Design and Technology this week. Miss Coar had us cutting a range of food products, including some that were much softer than others. We had to decide on the tools and techniques for cutting. We learnt about the bridge technique for when holding a knife to cut.
In Science, we have been learning about friction. Miss Coar set us an investigation to find out the best material for making new football goal keeping gloves! We touched different materials such as felt, bin bags and towelling material, then we rubbed the material against eachother. Finally, we tried picking up/catching a ball using the material as gloves to see which had the most friction. We learnt that surfaces which are less smooth and more rough have more grip and therefore have a higher friction force. We also learnt that some friction forces are actually really helpful!
Finally, World Book Day 2025 consisted of lots of live zoom sessions with authors and illustrators and many 'Stop, Drop and Read' moments which we truly appreciated! We love getting stuck into our favourite books in 3C!
