Class 1D

Welcome to Class 1D's Home Page

Our teachers are Mrs Demaine and Mrs Verity.  Have a look at some of the fun things that we have been getting up to in Year 1.

Outdoor Elements

We had a brilliant time learning how to bake bread, hunting for bugs, identifying river creatures, reading maps and building dens at Outdoor Elements.

Billie Bear's Wedding to the Earl of Warwick

In English, we have been doing recounts and we have had two fun events during this unit of work.  First the Earl of Warwick had a birthday party in class and then he got married to Billie Bear from 1SP.

Billie and her bridesmaids came down the aisle to the beautiful "Wedding March" music.  The vicar spoke to the congregation and they exchanged vows and rings.  We threw confetti when they left the church.

Christmas Nativity - Hey Ewe!

Christmas Nativity

Well done Year 1 for learning all your parts and singing so well in this year's Christmas Nativity of Hey Ewe!

General Notices

Reading

The children can change their reading books every day and we ask them to put them in the box for changing.  Please sign their reading record so that we know they have read.

Spellings

Spelling tests are held every Monday morning.  The children will also do a pre-test every Wednesday on their new spellings for the week.  If the children get most of these correct, then they will be given list B to work on. The spellings will be a mixture of words using the graphemes we are working on in phonics or statutory words they need to learn in Year 1 (common exception words).

To help with spellings, I will also upload their spelling list onto Spelling Shed every Wednesday. The password for this is in the back of the children's homework books.

Water Bottles

We encourage the children to bring a water bottle to school everyday to keep them hydrated.  The children should be drinking water only and no cordials, juice or fizzy drinks should be brought to school.

P.E. Kits

We are having PE lessons with Mrs Holstead every Wednesday afternoon and with Mrs Demaine on a Tuesday.  During this half term they will be mostly indoor PE lessons but the children will need an outdoor PE kit in school just in case.
