Class 6H

Life Education Van

Welcome to Class 6H. My name is Mr Hartley and we will be supported in class this year by Mrs O'Sullivan. This page will update you on future events and we will put pictures of all the fun things we are doing both in and out of class.

This is a very important year for your children so if you have any questions, please contact us and we will get straight back to you. Below is a link to our welcome letter.

Homework

We are keeping the homework as simple as possible this year.

Spellings

On Monday, your child will bring a spelling sheet home which needs to be returned by Friday. They will also have a spelling test every Friday morning on these words.

If the children visit Spelling Shed (link below), they can practise the spellings through games and earn extra Dojo points!

Times Table Rockstars (TTRS)

The children can practise their times tables here (link below). TTRS has been set to your child's individual needs. So even if they know their times tables and related division facts, the aim is to become quicker and more efficient.

Reading

At the start of the year, all the children read to an adult and we try to do this as often as possible in class. We have weekly guided reading sessions and we have a focus on our reading phase within our English units. However, it makes a HUGE difference when the children can read and be read to by an adult or sibling. Even in Year 6. Please try to listen to your child read as much as possible. Reading unlocks so many avenues for our children and enables them to progress further in every other subject and it is a vital life skill (reading sources in history, reading maths questions, reading important signs and notices). Children have a home reading book and the book can be changed any day throughout the week.

Thank you for your continued support.
