Exploring Deforestation Through News Reporting

Our budding reporters have been hard at work investigating the positives and negatives of deforestation! Combining their English skills with their Geography learning, the children planned, wrote, and presented their own news reports to the class. They used balanced argument discussion texts to explore both sides of this global issue and employed cohesive devices to make their reports clear.

Exploring Moth Adaptations in Nature

Our young scientists had an exciting outdoor adventure this week, exploring how white and black peppered moths have adapted to their environment. The children discovered how the moths’ colours help them camouflage against different backgrounds, protecting them from predators. They also learned how changes in the environment — such as pollution or cleaner air — can affect which moths are more likely to survive. This hands-on investigation helped the children see how environmental changes can impact a species over time.
