Class 5L Information

Key Class Information:

Reading

Reading is a very important part of homework and we would encourage all children to read to an adult at least three times a week; including taking time to review and discuss what you child has read. As they are reading, please record in their reading journal the date, page number and any other comments on how your child has read. All children should bring their reading book and record into school every day. Completed books should be placed in the 'Books to be Changed' box and will be changed that day. Your child will receive a dojo every time they read.

Homework

A piece of Maths or English homework will be sent home in your child's Homework book every Friday. Alongside this, we will also provide a list of 5 spellings, that will be posted on our class page on Dojo, for your child to practise in their homework books also. You will find a helpful prompt sheet in the back of their Homework books with fun strategies they can use to help them practise their spellings. The spellings will link to the spelling rule or pattern they have learned that week. Please could homework be completed and returned by the following Wednesday.

Alongside this, please could your child try and access TimesTables Rockstars each

week to practise their times table facts. The 'Garage' and 'Soundcheck' games will help them improve their fluency and speed. Weekly cerificates will be given out in assembly and each Friday fun class battles will be set up. This will add a little competitive spirit while allowing the children to improve their fluency with times tables. Please find you childs TTRS log in in the front of their homewok book.

PE

Our PE days are Tuesday and Friday. Please make sure children have their full PE kit in school and it would be really helpful if items of clothing are labelled. Please could earrings not be worn on PE days.
